A really nice guy named Travis biked up to the Bake Olympia booth on Friday night. He and I had been in touch via email a few weeks before, when he told me about events he’s organizing through an organization called Dishcrawl. It sounds like the perfect match for him. A former chef, he’s excited to help Olympia diners broaden their horizons by organizing evenings that sound like sophisticated progressive dinners.
Dishcrawls connect local diners with chefs during a four-restaurant tour and aim to create community surrounding food. And they debut in Olympia this Tuesday night at 7:00!
Want a ticket? I have one (a value of $45) to give away. But obviously this one is quick. You only have 24 hours to put your name in the hat. If you’d like to go, simply leave a comment on this post, on my Facebook page or on my Twitter feed and mention Dishcrawl Olympia to be entered in a random drawing. I’ll announce the winner late tomorrow night.
My thanks to Travis and the folks at Dishcrawl. This was an unsolicited gift that was offered with no strings attached. I’m excited to offer one person an evening at Olympia restaurants. (Travis will contact the winner with the full plan for the evening, but I hear it involves crepes, cupcakes and wine.)
It’s a really nice way to celebrate our success on Friday night. Olympia food bloggers and cooking instructors raised $600 for GRuB and met a slurry of enthusiastic activists, farm workers and cookie eaters. More to come (including a recipe) on Thursday.
